{faithful}

Yesterday....
at a coffee house....
I was whining.
Yeah, that's what I'm here to rant about. ;) I mean whining makes quite the exciting post, right? Well, I guess truth be told that's not what I have to say.
I was talking to a friend about how some of God's most precious jewels never get married. I was like, what's up with that? All the snobs can get a guy right of the bat and then you see a 33 year old that has never had a boyfriend and you wonder.... who wouldn't want to marry her?
My friend's response intrigued me. She told me, "maybe He chose those girls because He knew they would be faithful." He knew those girls would follow Him husband or no husband... whether their dreams came true or whether they were dashed. Those were the girls He knew He could count on.
In balance, I found a Corrie Ten Boom quote to be quite intriguing:
"There are some, like me, who are called to live a single life. For them it is always easy for they are, by their nature, content. Others, like Ellen, are called to prepare for marriage which may come later in life. They, too, are blessed, for God is using the in-between years to teach them that marriage is not the answer to unhappiness. Happiness is found only in a balanced relationship with the Lord Jesus."
I like that last part.... to teach them that marriage isn't the answer, a relationship with Christ is. Marriage can become an idol... something that we hold above the Lord Jesus Christ. We've taken our eyes off of Him and feel that if we attained this one thing we would be happy. As C.S. Lewis said, "God cannot give us happiness outside of Himself, because it is not there." Perhaps God is keeping those things from us so that we can know Him more. Or perhaps we are one of His gems that He's keeping special.
